We are the Swedish American Patriotic League
We're a community joined in celebrating our joint Swedish Heritage
The League was formed in 1895 and is comprised of 12 member organizations with the goal of perpetuating Swedish Culture here in the Greater Bay Area. The League hosts a number of events to celebrate our heritage, including the oldest continuous Midsummer celebration outside of Sweden itself (now held in June each year in Sveadal). The League purchased 110 Acres near Uvas Canyon in April 1926. The property was given the name of "SVEADAL", which roughly translates to Swedish Valley or Valley of the Swedes. Sveadal has been dedicated by the Swedish Royal Family on two separate occasions, and it remains the League's treasured cultural heritage site to this day.
On July 29, 1926, Sveadal was officially dedicated during a visit by Sweden’s Crown Prince Gustav Adolf and Crown Princess Louise
Their granddaughter, Princess Christina came from Sweden and dedicated our new Clubhouse in 1988
